What is castable refractory mass?
Castable Refractories is a type of solid material resistant to high heat and chemicals that can be cast and shaped. This refractory mass is prepared in the form of paste or powder, and by adding water or special solvents, they become a pourable mixture. After pouring and applying pressure and heat, the castable refractory mass becomes solid and resistant to heat and pressure and is used in various industrial sectors, such as furnaces, crucibles, blowers and other thermal equipment.
In general, castable mass is a material compatible with high thermal conditions and chemical substances, which is prepared in the form of paste or powder.These masses usually include a mixture of heat-resistant minerals, advanced materials and composite materials, which, in order to increase their strength and efficiency, become a pourable mixture by adding water or special solvents.
Castable masses, which are also known as refractory concrete, are classified into two main groups: light insulating masses and heavy refractory masses. These masses have a hydraulic connection and are divided into four groups of low cement (LCC), medium cement (MCC), ultra-low cement (ULCC) and no cement (NCC).
Since this pouring mass is like concrete, it is also called “refractory concrete”. Various elements such as silica, alumina, magnesite and composite materials are used to create the desired properties in the castable refractory mass of concrete such as heat resistance, heat shock resistance and suitable mechanical properties.Pourable mass includes minerals and textural materials. which is mixed dry and then used with water or a solvent such as water to form a sticky state. By drying and combining the materials, a cohesive structure is created, which has high thermal resistance and fire resistance.
Application of castable mass in refractory industries
